Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation was formed by Northwest Community Organization with Erie Neighborhood House and Holy Innocents Church in 1967 to create affordable housing opportunities in West Town, Humboldt Park and Logan Square in response to widespread disinvestment, arson and demolition. It has remained a member-based organization.

After months of hard work and dedication, we are pleased to announce that our brand new website is live at! Our goal with this new website is to provide our visitors an easier way to access resources and learn about Bickerdike’s work

Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation won citywide recognition on February 17th for preserving and improving affordable rental units in Humboldt Park’s 1704 N. Humboldt Building at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Chicago’s 21st Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards (CNDA), the city’s premier forum for recognition of development projects.

Bickerdike’s CEO, Joy Aruguete has been reappointed and will serve another term on the the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLBC) Community Investment Advisory Council.

With Bickerdike serving as the lead agency and representation from a wide variety of organizations serving the Humboldt Park community, the Humboldt Park New Communities Program (NCP) Task Force meets quarterly to discuss and work on issues affecting the community.

Waking up early on a cold Saturday isn’t at the top of many “to-do lists,” but that’s just what Bickerdike members do each December for Bickerdike’s Annual Membership Meeting.

Since 2009, Bickerdike and Elevate Energy have partnered to retrofit over 294 units encompassing installation of high efficiency furnaces, low flow water fixtures, efficient light, air sealing, and insulation measures.
