Public safety is a concern for many of us and a top priority for Bickerdike. One of the ways that we can ensure that our neighborhoods are safe is to be informed and engaged, and attendance at our local beat meetings is one way to do that.
Bickerdike staff watched the weather obsessively during the week before Saturday’s BBQ hoping that the wind and rain wouldn’t make a comeback from last year’s event. Luckily, the threats of storms were no match for their will as the sun shone brightly on the event.

Last week residents from the 1704 N. Humboldt Building gathered in Bickerdike’s Community Room for a healthy cooking class taught by Lilah Handler from EverThrive Illinois.
Ten Bickerdike staff and family, most of whom aren’t runners, woke up early on a rainy Saturday to support the inaugural Humboldt Park 5k. They made up just a fraction of a total of 478 other runners and walkers.
With over 50,000 people in attendance during the grand opening event on June 6th, the Bloomingdale Trail/The 606 seems to be a successful and welcome addition to its surrounding communities and we at Bickerdike couldn’t agree more.
