Humboldt Park NCP Task Force meets to discuss Public Safety
With Bickerdike serving as the lead agency and representation from a wide variety of organizations serving the Humboldt Park community, the Humboldt Park New Communities Program (NCP) Task Force meets quarterly to discuss and work on issues affecting the community.
In January, task force members filled the Bickerdike Community Room to discuss the pressing issue of public safety in Humboldt Park.
Chet Jackson, Executive Director of West Humboldt Park Development Council spoke about their work in west Humboldt Park and the realities of crime in the area.
A representative from Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4) discussed the connection between violence and mental illness and the importance of Mental Health First Aid training.
Also in attendance were representatives from the Chicago Police Department’s 11th District, who are very committed to working with members of the Task Force to combat this problem.
