Protecting Our Residents: Statement on West Town Housing Preservation
We proudly announce the forthcoming recapitalization and rehab of our award-winning West Town Housing Partners Phase I and Phase II housing developments. Bickerdike is a mission driven not for profit and core to our mission is community development by and for the benefits of low and moderate-income residents and our work against gentrification and displacement. We are in the business of providing quality affordable housing, and our mission drives the revitalization of these two developments.
We will be making improvements in these older apartment buildings and temporarily moving people for about 30 days to protect them from the construction hazard, and then residents will move back into their improved apartments. Residents will enjoy a wide array of new features including energy efficient designs and systems such as high-efficiency furnaces and central air conditioning, new flooring, roofing, doors, new plumbing, and lighting fixtures, and many others.
We are currently hosting information sessions for residents to ensure we do our best to keep them in the loop and plan for their individual needs as we go through this process.
We will be making more information about this important preservation project in the near future.
