Preserve. Build. Empower: Bickerdike's 2014 Annual Membership Meeting
Waking up early on a cold Saturday isn't at the top of many "to-do lists," but that's just what Bickerdike members do each December for Bickerdike’s Annual Membership Meeting.
This year was no different as they gathered at North-Grand High School on the morning of December 6th to be part of the meeting and take part in the democratic process that is integral to Bickerdike’s work: Voting on resolutions and the election of the Board of Directors. After a delicious breakfast courtesy of Janik’s Cafe, the meeting opened with a welcome from our MCs of ceremony, Gregory Bork and Yolanda Cruz. Attendees were then treated to an uplifting musical number by the choir group, Re'Joyce.
Following a tradition begun just last year, there was a special reading of the Bickerdike mission, followed by our Year in Review video, which highlighted 2014’s accomplishments in the fulfillment of that mission.
The business portion of the meeting began with a vote on several Corporate Resolutions and was followed by the election for the Board of Directors.
The 2014 nominees, who were all reelected to continue their service included incumbents, Alfredo Calixto, Debra Geiren and Richard Rowe.
The annual membership meeting is also a time to recognize those that dedicate their time and efforts to the advancement of Bickerdike's work. This year two employees were honored for their years of service, Jimmy Ross for 20 years and Yolanda Cruz for 25 years.
Bickerdike thanks all members, volunteers and staff who were part of making our 2014 Annual Membership Meeting a success. Our membership is the centerpiece which connects individuals in the communities we serve to the work that we do. Each person helps bring to life our theme for 2014,"Preserve. Build. Empower."
