When Can I Apply for an Accessible Unit?
Applicants may request an accessible unit in two ways:
During a Regular Waitlist Opening
When a property’s general waitlist opens, applicants may indicate that they require an accessible unit and submit documentation verifying their qualifying disability.
You do not need to wait for a separate accessible-only waitlist if a general waitlist is open.
During an Accessible Unit-Only Waitlist Opening
Occasionally, a waitlist may open specifically for accessible units.
Accessible unit-only waitlists are reserved for applicants with a verified physical, hearing, or vision disability requiring the specific accessibility features of the unit.
If you apply during an accessible unit-only waitlist opening and do not meet the eligibility requirements, your application will not be processed and you will receive a written rejection notice.
Please ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements before selecting an accessible unit option on your application.
What Features May Be Included?

- Step-free building entry
- Wider doorways and hallways
- Lowered countertops or cabinets
- Roll-in showers or grab bars
- Visual doorbells or alarm systems
- Other ADA-compliant design elements

Important Information
Applicants must also meet all income and program eligibility requirements for the property in addition to qualifying for an accessible unit.
If an accessible unit becomes available and there is no qualified applicant requiring those specific accessibility features, the unit may be offered in accordance with fair housing and regulatory guidelines.
