Community Inspired Development
For 55 years, Bickerdike has been investing in its communities by creating award-winning affordable housing that has stood the test of time. To date we have invested more than $600 million to construct or rehabilitate 2,267 affordable and for-sale properties. Today, Bickerdike continues with its efforts to create sustainable developments that not only make efficient use of natural resources during construction but are proving to have long-term impacts on the operation of the buildings and on the environment.
Award-winning
Bickerdike has won recognition for its work from the entire industry ranging from The Polk Bros. Foundation Affordable Rental Housing Preservation Award by Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) for West Town Housing Preservation in 2020 to the AIA’s Distinguished Building award in 1990 to the ASHRAE Excellence in Engineering award in 2013.
The future
Bickerdike pursues new development initiatives to meet the diverse housing needs in our community.
In the coming years, Bickerdike will:
- Complete development projects currently underway, which include two equitable transit-oriented developments.
- Continue to develop rental housing which is environmentally sustainable and reduces our carbon footprint.
- Continue to build our legacy of incorporating cutting-edge technology into our affordable housing developments.
- Continue to engage local residents and community organizations in our development initiatives.
We will also continue to engage in advocacy which fosters the creation of a variety of affordable housing opportunities.
