On April 1, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Department of Housing Commissioner Lissette Castañeda announced more than $300 million in City investment to support 15 affordable housing developments across Chicago through the 2025 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP), including Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation’s Metropolitan L Apartments in Logan Square.
This week, we were proud to join 35th Ward Alderman Anthony Quezada, Commissioner Castañeda, Palenque LSNA, and Logan Square Preservation at the future site of Metropolitan L Apartments to celebrate this important milestone.
Located at 2525 N. Kedzie Avenue near the Logan Square Blue Line station, Metropolitan L Apartments will bring up to 96 one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes that are 100% affordable, along with more than 2,500 square feet of affordalble retail space to support local businesses and services.
As housing costs continue to rise in Logan Square, this project reflects Bickerdike’s long-standing mission to preserve affordability and prevent displacement on Chicago’s Northwest Side. With support from the City of Chicago, we are helping ensure that longtime residents and working families can remain in the community they have helped shape.
Community voice will remain central as the project moves forward. In alignment with the 35th Ward’s Community-Driven Zoning and Development process, an updated proposal will be shared and a community meeting will be scheduled later this year.
We are grateful to our partners and neighbors for helping move this project forward and look forward to continuing this work together to keep Logan Square a place where families can stay and thrive.
