On Tuesday, May 2, Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot announced that Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation was named one of 133 nonprofits, small businesses, developers, and neighborhood entrepreneurs awarded an economic development Chicago Recovery Plan grant. The $150,000 grant in the Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (ETOD) category is for the pre-development of the 2525 N. Kedzie Boulevard project.
In July 2022, the CTA Board approved a 99-year ground lease of the site to Bickerdike. Bickerdike’s vision for redeveloping the CTA site at 2525 N Kedzie Boulevard is an equitable transit-oriented affordable housing development that, much like Lucy Gonzalez Parsons Apartments, will provide an opportunity for current lower-income residents of Logan Square to remain in their neighborhood rather than be displaced by gentrification.
